English Student's Express Thoughts in Prezi

After finishing "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck, Ms. Herndon's English II classes were asked to pick an aspect of the story in which they could express in a Prezi presentation.  The students were given a model presentation and a walkthrough on how to setup their own accounts, that was all it took for Ms. Herndon's classes grasp the concept and start working.  The projects turned out great for their first try.

Barbie Bungee Jumping
Students experimented with slope and the slope intercept form of a line.  Students worked together to collaborate and communicate in a group to work on this bungee experience.  The groups dropped Barbie from the same starting point 200 cm from the ground and then dropped her to see how far she dropped.  The students dropped her 3 times with the same number of rubberbands to get an average distance she dropped.  They recorded the information on an input/output table then added more rubberbands to Barbie to do the experiment again.  They continued this process until Barbie got as close to the ground as possible without hitting her head on the ground.  They plotted the data on a scatter plot and drew a line of best fit.  They also wrote an equation for the line of best fit in slope-intercept form.  They used the graph and their equation to predict how many rubber bands it would take to for Barbie to safely bungee jump at different heights.
